Question : My right leg ACHES. The aching areas of the leg vary. I had an x-ray and ultra sound of knee. Ultra sound indicated a burst Baker's cyst. Ortho doc wasn't concerned about that and took x-ray - almost bone on bone. But the 'pain' is the entire leg and it's a severe (at times) ACHE. When walking, leg feels heavy. Going down stairs hurts more than going up stairs. I haven't tried shots - I'm afraid to.

Brief Answer:
physiotherapy combined with pain medication would help

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The xray definitely shows narrowing of the joint space which means that you may have early osteoarthritis present which would definitely contribute to your pain.

Arthritic changes can cause severe pain which can then radiate down the leg. In most persons the pain can be worse in the morning or after a period of not moving and improve slightly after moving around during the day.

Physiotherapy ,to strengthen the muscles around the knee , can be very helpful when combined with pain medication. Your doctor should be able to refer to a physiotherapist that can help.

If there is no improvement with the combination of therapy and pain meds, then injections can be considered.
These are generally safe, pain medication is injected along with the steroid to minimize the pain from the injection itself.

If there is any excess weight, weight loss, which reduces the physical stress on the joint, would also be helpful as well

You should also check to see if there are any dilated veins in the legs because this also causes a heavy feeling to occur.
Elevation of the legs and special stockings can help if this is present

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
