Question : Hello, I have a terrible, very itchy red rash on my back. I am a very healthy 53-year-old woman. I have not done anything out of the ordinary or tried any new soaps or lotions. It just came on Sunday. I have never had a rash like this before, do you have any idea what it might be and the best way to treat it, please? Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Possibility of sun induced eruption
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and viewed the image
You seem to have a sun induced eruption on your back as the part of skin that was protected by bra strap seems to be spared in the image. Did you go out in the sun? on beach?
Hope to assist you further. Take care.

Brief Answer:
Polymorphic light eruption
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Ideally, in such a widespread eruption, I would suggest a 7-10 days of oral prednisone. Topically you may use either mometasone furoate 0.1% cream or desoximetasone 0.25% cream, twice daily. These are prescription medications. Cortizone 10 cream is too mild to offer any significant relief. In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily for a few days.
Take care. Let me know if you need any more assistance
