Question : My blood sugar was 325 after 2 hours of eating a heavy carb meal. Generally my early morning sugar level is 99 and below , but 2 hours after eating is around 170 depending on the Carbs intake
My HBA1C was 5.6 3 months ago
I am not on any medication except Pravastatis 40 mg on alternate days and Cartia Xt for tachycardia
My Dr says he would not prescribe Metformin as my early morning sugar level is normal
Do you recommend that I insist my Dr to give metformin ? Or just eat moderate carbs and manage ? I do walk daily and exercise

                                    Brief Answer:
Repeat HbA1C test
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your query and understood your concern.
Your last HbA1 C test and fasting results are within the range.
The 2h aftet meals results are suggestive of diabetes. For this reason i suggest to repeat another HbA1c test to clarifie if you have diabetes or not.
Let me know the result and i will be happy to guide you further.
Meantime i suggest to eat healthy, exercise every day and reach a healthy weight if you are overweight.
Wish you good health.
