Question : Hi, Dr. Chail:

I uploaded some images titled "Head & Neck" Area. Do you see anything in these images that may potentially cause or contribute to severe vertigo or dizziness; specially vertigo or dizziness when the back of head and neck lean on a pillow, couch, or bed. It is not vertigo or dizziness from moving, changing positions, or sudden standing etc. It seems to be caused when the back of head or neck makes contact with and leans on (feels pressure) against a pillow, couch, or bed.

Thanks for your kind words.

The images uploaded are showing mild straightening of the cervical vertebrae.

There is mild cervical spondylosis.

There is mild posterior thecal indentation in C4-C5, C5-C6 and C6-C7 disc levels. There is disc desiccation in C5-C6 and C6-C7 cervical disc levels. The cervical spinal cord is normal. There is mild narrowing of the spinal canal at C6-C7 disc level and is likely not significant.

There are no axial images to confirm any neural foraminal compromise. This information is needed to confirm if your vertigo is due to any nerve pinching and is not clearly visualised in the uploaded images.

I viewed the images uploaded and there are axial images of the thoracic vertebral levels in the chest area. Request you to please send axial images of the cervical vertebral levels in the neck area.

The disc problems are in the neck area.

Just now as I'm typing this I just got sudden vertigo as my head is leaned back (made contact) with a pillow; the vertigo sometimes immediately resolves if I lift my head off what it was leaning on or sometimes turn my head to the left. There is also mild to severe nausea and loss of appetite.

I uploaded some images titled Axial Cervical.

Please take care of your health. Avoid being alone when you get the vertigo attacks. Probably you might need to consult an ENT doctor and get tested for problems of the inner ear if the cervical spine does not show any serious problems.

I am wondering what are all the bright white dots on the images? Mostly on the right side of the head? And a couple of bright white dots on the left side of head?

The bright dots outside in the black background are artefacts and due to magnetic field and are not significant.

I emailed images with the bright white dots inside the head area, mostly on the right side some on the left. Are you able to decipher what they are? Would these bright white dots have anything to do with the vertigo?

The areas showing arrows and circles is the lateral neck area and you have marked the left side of the neck. The bright dots and surrounding structures are normal neurovascular bundles and muscles in the area. It does not cause vertigo.
