Question : Doctor switching son to temasapam for sleep instead of xanax 1 mg. Can he stop the Xanax cold turkey since temaxapam is a benzo and will be taking its place

Dear Parent, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but switching between benzodiazepines is not expected to cause any withdrawal symptoms since both medications enhance GABA receptors , however you should keep him under supervision as it was reported in very few cases that switching could cause impaired concentration and delirium.
