Question : Doctor wants to remove both ovaries and tube and a D&C. I am suppose to go in for surgery tomorrow for a D&C to get a better sample as I had a biopsy done and they didn't get enough , my uterine wall is really thick i use to have endometriosis, Also have a cyst about 1.5" on left ovary . I have already had BC which was not hormonal , had chemo then a double mastectomy 5 years clear and all my blood test now have came back low risk. I have done genetic testing and says I am not a candidate. If my ovaries are not producing eggs, basically says i'm in menopause. Should I have them removed I am very wary as I don't want to do it just cause "were in there". I am 45. I'm concern with heart disease and weight gain.
Brief Answer:
a total hysterectomy is reasonable
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think you should do another biopsy to help your doctor decide if you need a hysterectomy or not.
From your description, it seems like you are in menopause. Based on the result of the biopsy, a decision regarding total hysterectomy can be taken because you are just in menopause and they tend to get damaged by chemotherapy.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Risk of malignancy is high for the uterus and ovaries.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
I think they want to remove ovaries because they contain the risk of malignancy.
After menopause ovaries still produce androgens which are converted in estrogen.
You can find many ways to substitute estrogen, eg. with food. Also you can use drugs that can ease estrogen absence symptoms.
Best regards.
