Question : I am on a cough medicine called quaifen/codeine. My question is can i now take an ambien and simply go to bed

Can be taken , if you have got a prescription from your doctor for ambien

I appreciate your concern

Both Codeine and guanfacine (quaifen) don't interact significantly with ambien ( zolpidem ). So you can safely take ambien if you have got a prescription from your doctor. I would advise a low dose of ambien e.g 5 mg as codeine can also add to the sedation.
