Does Fatal Familial Insomnia Cause Death?
Question: Three days ago, I saw an episode of “1000 Ways to Die” which involves a person who suffers Fatal Familial Insomnia. After seeing how he suffered and died from that disorder, my mind couldn’t stop thinking about that. On Wednesday night, I couldn’t sleep until 1:30 AM, and last night, I almost couldn’t sleep at all. Could this mean that I am now suffering Fatal Familial Insomnia after watching that episode?
Brief Answer:
Not related to fatal familial insomnia
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Fatal familial insomnia is a genetic disorder.
It can not be caused by a movie, so you should not be worried.
Every person may have some sporadic cases of insomnia due to stress or anxiety.
Try to relax and use chamomile tea before sleep.
Hope my answer was helpful.

What about a very rare genetic disorder called “Familial Lethal Insomnia”? I heard online about a XXXXXXX Music Teacher back in 1991 that he was diagnosed with “Familial Lethal Insomnia” after turning 40. He wanted more than sleep, but his brain wouldn’t allow it. He died in the hospital after six months from complete lack of sleep. Do you think I might follow the same disorder as he did back then? What about the Thalamus in my brain. Watching that episode from “1000 Ways to Die” featuring the man who died from “Fatal Familial Insomnia” must’ve affected my Thalamus which is why I had trouble sleeping in the past two days. Are those big problems?

What about Fatal Insomnia, or even Sporadic Fatal Insomnia? If watching how the man died from Fatal Familial Insomnia from the episode of “1000 Ways to Die” is disturbing, would it disrupt the Thalamus inside my brain and thus begin the symptoms of either Fatal Insomnia or Sporadic Fatal Insomnia?
