Question : my wife is taking ferrius sulphate pills with her chemo. she wants to take a prescription antibiotic AMOX/KClav 875 mg for a tooth inflammation. will the antibiotic interact with the FeSO3?
Brief Answer:
Both ferrous sulphate and amoxyclav are highly acidic
Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM,
Both ferrous sulphate and amoxyclav are highly acidic and although they do not directly interact, both together affect the stomach.
Please take a high dose of --Pantoprazole 40, Rabeprazole-30) acid reducing medicines, twice a day before meals and the antibiotic and ferrous sulphate after meals.
In fact it will be a good idea to stop ferrous sulphate for a few days till antibiotic course is over.
Regards
