Question : Other than GERD potentially causing aspiration and lung damage, are there any other esophageal problems or conditions which could cause trouble breathing?

Any disease that can cause aspiration of gastric contents into lung can cause breathing problem like Achalasia cardia, Diverticula, malignancy, any motility disorders.

Not all diseases cause aspiration. It may or may not be one of the symptoms.
