Does Gabapentin Interact With Tizanidine?

Question: my friend is 37 healthy but strained is back day before yesterday doing yardwork and could hardly get around for two days. Last night he took 800 mgm of gabapentin and 8mg tizanadine. His back is okay this morning but he says he feels like his eyes and his ears are going to bust out of his head. He doesnt take these drugs on a usually. He takes no meds and doesn't have a chronic illness. What can he do to reduce these symtoms at home?
Brief Answer:
He should stop gabapentin. Continue Tizanidine and add tylenol!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about what your friend suffered. Headache is a side effect of gabapentin and this is not indicated in acute pain. I will recommend that he stops gabapentin and continue with tizanidine. He should add tylenol: 1000mg thrice daily. He should get some rest and sleep as well.
I hope this helps and guides. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

Drink coffee? Drink fluids? Rest w head elevated? Any thing else?
Brief Answer:
No coffee unless he’s always on it. Fluids and bed rest okay!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Unless he’s always on coffee, I will not recommend this. Coffee interferes with sleep and wouldn’t help at this time. Bed rest and increased fluids intake will help.
I wish him well. Keep me updated about this!
