Question: I presented a year ago last XXXXXXX with a Gleason of 9 and PSA of 96. I've had 39 Calypso radiation treatments and been on Lupron and casodex. I don't seem to have any symtoms except those brought on by the drugs. Do those numbers mean I automatically have mestatic or micro mestatic prostate cancer? I have passed all the tests i.e. bone scan, ct scan etc.
Brief Answer:
Considerations.
Detailed Answer:
thank you for sending the question.
The numbers that do not necessarily indicate that you have metastatic disease. What is important is to see what your numbers look like in the months and years after you have the radiation therapy. We usually expect the prostate specific antigen level to return very low even down to almost undetectable levels.
it looks like you have received optimal therapy including the radiation and now hormone directed therapy. It is important again to check the laboratory values on a periodic basis to see if there is any trend.
Otherwise it is very important that you continue to work on a well-balanced diet and physical activity regimen with exercise.
Thank you again for sending your question. If you have additional concerns or would like to share any additional clinical information for discussion I would be happy to review that with you.
