Does Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Cause Skin Rash On Neck?
Question: I have Hashimotos. My thyroid was removed last year in January after which I found out I had thyroid cancer. I was treated with radioactive iodine in March. In August, I developed a rash all around the incision spot, over the past several months it has spread around my neck and to my earlobes. I have seen my PCP, my endocrinologist and my allergy doctor. None can seem to figure it out. Is is possible the Hashimotos is still attacking me? Could I have developed another auto immune problem?

CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your 3 month glucose average)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
TSH
Free T4
Serum Quantitative thyroglobulin
Anti Thyroglobulin antibodies
25 hydroxy Vitamin D
Ultrasound of the neck

Could it be caused by stress if it's tied to an autoimmune issue? I also have terrible brain fog and fatigue and I don't sleep well. Though, to be fair, I have had insomnia since birth. I also have frequent diarrhea. I have gained about 40pounds this past year -partly thyroid, mostly bad habits, I am sure. I am trying to get back on track to health, but quite frustrated.

To be sure that your other symptoms are not due to thyroid issues, just make sure your TSH and Free T4 are in the target range
