Does Liquamycin Shot Help In Treating Syphilis?

default
Posted on Sat, 21 May 2016
Question: Will a liquamycin shot get rid of syphilis..

I am allergic to penicillin that is why I want too use liquamycin. I am a farmer and we have used it for years on the cattle and ourselves when a bacterial infection such as strep throat or whatever has been a concerne. We would just ask the vet what dosage he recommend but due to the embarrassing nature of this issue I would rather not ask him. I have read online that liquamycin would treat syphilis I am just looking for confirmation and proper dosage.

Brief Answer:
Liquamycin (oxytetracycline) can be used but Doxycycline is the safe one.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Liquamycin is effective if you maintain high blood levels of it. Injections will maintain lower blood levels than taking the oral form of drug. So oral form is preferred. Usual intramuscular dose is 250-300mg once in 24 hours or divided the dose into twice or thrice daily. 2gram orally daily is the successfully treated dosage. But this is not safe for kidneys.
Doxycycline is the newer generation of the drug which is very effective for syphilis and is kidney friendly also. This is given 100mg orally twice daily for 2 weeks to clear syphilis. You can ask your GP for doxycycline prescription which is better and safe.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
