Question : Is it safe to take virtussin a syrup for a cough with lot of mucus when I take lorazepam, synthroid, serequel, and several other depression meds plus my heart rate as gone up about 35 points in last week.

Virtussin contains Guaifenesin / Codeine, and is a cough suppressant and expectorant. It helps to stop or reduce coughing due to the common cold or inhaled irritants. It is safe to be used with other drugs.

I would insist you to take steam inhalation. Water in form of vapor reaches deep inside and helps in diluting the cough and thus provides relief.
