Does Metoprolol Interact With Atorvastatin And Metformin?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: Hi I recently had stents put in due to a blockage (no heart related issues run in my family). I am on metoprolol 25 mg, atorvastatin 20 mg, metformin 850mg and effient (which I know I can't stop the effient, but this doesn't contribute to gout anyway) however, 3 out of the 4 listed medications contribute or exhasberate gout. How do I take myself off of the 3 drugs listed that are causing my unrelenting out for the last 2 months?

Brief Answer:
At first Metoprolol should be changed

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Metoprolol can be changed to Bisoprolol, it has the same cardiovascular efficacy, but less probability of aggravating gout. For atorvastatin, the data are controversial of aggravating gout, anyway, if your complaints don't disappear after changing metoprolol, you can discuss with your doctor to change it as well.
For Methformin you should consult an endocrinologist, as only the endocrinologist can change this medication.
