Question : Would the results of mifepristone and misoprostol be affected in anyway by type 1 diabeties? My fiance has to take insulin from the shot and i was wondering if it would at all affect the medical abortion process and i wanted to know how quickly 200 mg of mifepristone itself kills a pregnancy after taking it, thanks

                                    Brief Answer:
Take antibiotics along
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your health concerns and anxiety about it.
There is no negative impact of diabetes on process of abortion but in general diabetic patients are more prone to infection so she should start an antibiotic along with the abortion pill after discussion with your gynaecologist.
Mifepristone causes death of the baby in about 12-24 hours and misoprostol acts to separate the products of conception from uterine wall and eventual expulsion from cavity in 24-72 hours.
So whole process is completed within a week and bleeding usually stops thereafter.
Take care

what are the chances of survival from mifepristone alone? What if 4 200 mg of misoprostol are taken 24 hours after and oregnancy is about 2 weeks? what kind of bleeding is normal for that early? Thank you

                                    Brief Answer:
Take it as advised
Detailed Answer:
If the pregnancy is just 2 weeks overdue the expected date then the bleeding occurs for 5-10 days and is more in 3-5 days post abortion which is 3-4 pads a day with clots only on first day usually.
Only mifepristone or only misoprostol is not enough and can lead to incomplete abortion.
So take it as advised and take tablets in morning time so that in case there is any problem you can rush to hospital at the earliest.
