Question : Does Olimelt 5mg treat loss of appetite? Can you suggest some good medicine which will increase my appetite?

Olimelt is not for appetite.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Olimelt (olanzapine) does not treat loss of appetite.

I generally recommend Buclizine hydrochloride tablet twice in day on empty stomach in my patients which increases appetite.

However,it is a prescription based drug,so you will have to go to a doctor for precription.

Cyproheptadine,tricholine with sorbitol based syrup (brand name heptin-TS) 2TSF once or twice daily also boosts appetite which is available over the counter.

These two medicines are good for appetite, you can try them.

Cyproheptadine, tricholine with sorbitol based syrup (brand name heptin- TS) 2TSF is this also a presciption based drug? and sorry didnt clearly understand the name of this syrup? is this as you mentioned above medicine name i.e heptin-TS?

Heptin-TS is the brand name of this syrup freely available in market.

hello, doctor. wanted to ask if u can suggest any other good medicine for loss of appetite? as Heptin-TS is not available in medicine shops in our locality as i stay at XXXXXXX .

Hi,

Cyproheptadine,tricholine with sorbitol based syrup is good and also available over the counter.

If Heptin-TS is not available then you can also try other brand names with same composition which might be available in some nearby medical store.

Cyprot-T or Trilene or syrup Apitaz.

Try Cyproheptadine 4 mg tablets once daily (brand names: Ciplactin or Ciprotim or Apectin).
