Does Phentermine Used To Loose Weight Causes Increase In Resting Heart Rate?

Question: I have been taking phentermine to loose weight. It is working for that. However, I noticed a big increase in my resting heart rate. When I woke up this morning, I took my BP which was good 108/76, but my heart rate was 93. This also includes that fact that I do have sleeping problems and took a Xanax at about 3 am to help me sleep. It was 9:30 when I got up and took my vitals. I'm concerned. Should I be?
Brief Answer:
Phenteramine causes this.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
Phenteramine frequently causes increase in BP and Pulse rate.
This BP and Pulse rate are acceptable only if you really wish to continue the drug.
Keep a constant watch on your BP and Pulse rate. If your BP rises more then or equal to 140/90, and pulse rate goes up to more then 100 beats per minute, you will have to stop the medicine.
In case you have to stop it, don't stop it abruptly. Slowly taper the dose over a period of 7 days and then stop.
Hope this helps.
If you have any further query please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Thank you Dr. I did a few more bps/pulse in the past few hours and it went down to 88 and 83. Last night however, it was 100? Not good eh? I will take my bp (which is good) and heart rate throughout the day and make sure I'm not seeing this high a pulse...right?
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
If your Pulse rate is crossing 100 beats per minute then you would require to stop the medicines.
Don't get panic, as it also increases the heart rate (pulse rate).
