Question : uphello... my LMP was 24 sept 2014. i had to attend a occation on 22-23 oct 2014. So took regestrone from 14 oct till 23 oct. then stopped it. i m yet to get my periods and today my UPT turned out to be positive... what is it. M i pregnant or is regestrone interfearing with the test. pls answer my question asap

Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.

UPT depends on detection of a beta HCG in urine.
Regestrone/progesterone will not interfere with this test.
UPT has a very high specificity,approaching 99%.So with a possitive test,pregnancy is almost sure.
Anyhow,for the time being,you can repeat the test once.

Hi dear,

Serum beta HCG test is not at all needed for confirmation(this is costly also).
As I told,you can repeat UPT itself once more.UPT is a test with high sensitivity and specificity.
