Brief Answer:
Blood tests, looking for cause of infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I understand these situations can be confusing. E.Coli is a bacteria that is natural to the body, but some of the bacteria mutate and become resistant to certain antibiotics. The blood tests could be cultures and sensitivities to try and figure out if the E.Coli is one of those special resistant strains. Also the blood tests for you could e to test if you are suffering from the infection as well. Close personal contact.. like sexual intercourse can spread these bacteria.

A 'carrier' of a disease is a person who has the bacteria growing within them, but the bacteria is not hurting them or attacking them actively. Instead the bacteria just live and reproduce in the persons body. Carrier states can be tested for with blood tests and and treated with antibiotics. There's nothing to be fearful of.

I would suggest one additional test. You described a Urinalysis result showing pus and epithelial cells in her urine. I would also suggest that she get a Culture and Sensitivity done on the urine to see what antibiotics will work best for the infection.

I hope this helps, feel free to follow-up
