Does Valsartan Interact With Cephalexin?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: I have had hearing loss from Advil. I am taking valsartan, which seems to produce tinnitus. Six hours ago, I just ingested orally a 500-mg capsule of Cephalexin. I just woke up with much louder tinnitus. Could the Valsartan and Cephalexin be damaging my cochleas?

Brief Answer:
NO!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Am so sorry to hear about this tinnitus that you have reported.

I have reviewed the drug information for valsartan and cephalexin separately and possible interactions if both are used together. They do not damage the cochlea. I believe the increased tinnitus is in no way related to this new drugs that you are taking. Most likely related to the advil. Hopefully, that will get resolved as you are no longer on this drug.

I wish you well.
