Question : I am supposed to have rotator cuff surgery in a week , I just received my blood work and the wbc is 12.5 (3-11) and the neut absolute was 9.4 (1.5 - 6.2) I started taking antibiotic the day after my blood draw because of ear infection will this delay my upcoming surgery

Hello,

although infections are common causes of missed surgeries, I don't believe you're going to have any trouble in this case because one week is enough time for a pathogen in the middle ear to be eradicated. You actually stop transmitting it to others only a couple of days after starting a macrolide antibiotic like azithromycin. It depends on the surgeon though...
