Brief Answer:
Please do random blood glucose test

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Even in the earliest days of discovery, attention to sugar in urine was drawn from the fact that ants were attracted to it. Though this is not confirmatory, there is a possibility that your urine might have high levels of sugar and related compounds.

Ants getting attracted to your urine is not confirmatory of diabetes and cannot be taken as a sure symptom.

It is suggested that you get random blood glucose done. If the levels are high then you should get fasting and post prandial blood glucose also done.

There might be chance of hereditary transmission of diabetes from your grand mother even on maternal side.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
