Question : I have type 2 diabetes, only taking Metformin. Would my chronic herpes simplex 2 cause elevated blood sugar (average increase of 30 from 125 baseline) during a virus outbreak?
Brief Answer:
Yes. It is possible
Detailed Answer:
Good day
Noted your concern.
Yes it is possible for the blood glucose to go up during any infection. Herpes is no exception.
Infections and stress increase the level of cortisol and other counter regulatory hormones. This will push the blood sugar up. Recommend to monitor blood glucose regularly while having a flare up of herpes.
