Question : Had a shooting pain in the right side of the right eye. Late last week and again this morning. BP is 160/84 pulse 79. 61 yo male 5’6” 266lbs
Brief Answer:
Hypertensive eye disease to be ruled out
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir
I can certainly understand your concern
I have worked through your attached query in detail.
In view of elevated blood pressure despite intake of antihypertensive medications, pain the eye requires careful evaluation to rule out hypertensive eye disease.
It's very important to rule out any bleeding into the posterior segment of the eye as well. For this, I'd advise you to get the following tests at the earliest:
Fundus examination (of the eye)
Intraocular pressure study
Further management is largely based on the test results.
Consultation with an Ophthalmologist is a must in this scenario.
Please post your further queries if any
Thank you
