Question : I am 45 and have missed my last two periods. First time ever. My bloodwork shows an elevated prolactin level...that is all. Is this normal?

                                    Brief Answer:
missed periods are from high prolactin
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
Thanks for your query.
If you have excluded pregnancy high levels of prolactine are associated with missed periods.
You should consult with an endocrinologist because you may need to treat high levels of prolactine.
All the best

Are higher prolactin levels typical in perimenopause? My doctor has suggested that it could potentially be from the pituitary?
