Brief Answer:
Watch out for adverse effects, delay next dosage

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Usual dosage of ertapenem ( INvanz) is one gram per day. I am sure you have used one gram vial then you have doubled the dose.

It is an antibiotic and its excess dose does not cause harm to infection or disease but it does have its adverse effects. If your grandpa feel nauseous or he get jaundiced, seizures or loss of consciousness then get him to ER other wise what is done is done and should not be repeated in future. I would advise to delay the next dosage by at least 12 hours and instead of using it at 9 am use it at 9 pm. This way it will be less accumulating in the system and will have more time to clear ou of the system.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and your grandpa and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

Seizures and loss of consciousness? Is this usual for one extra dose of this antibiotic? These doses were approximately 12 hours apart.
And btw....how long after the last dose would these systems start?

Brief Answer:
Just keep an eye

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back

Usually these are the adverse effects reported more likely in overdosages or renal impairments and not necessarily to show up. More chances of showing up with these adverse effects are within first two hours and if first two hours are past then no worries. All you need to do is watch out. half of the drug is gone out of the system with in 4 hours so no worries.

I hope it helps.
