Does Excess Water Intake Affect ETG Test Results?

Question: I have to ETG test and I keep getting diluted test. I have kindney stones,calculus,kidney and a overactive bladder along with IBS. I HAVE NOT HAD DRINK OR PURPOSLY TRYED TO DO THIS. Could all my health issues cause this proplem?

Hello and welcome,

I'm sorry you have been having this problem. If you have kidney stones I assume you drink a lot of water. And if you drink a lot of water, then your ETG test will be dilute.

I don't think your health problems in and of themselves are causing the ETG test problem. I wouldn't expect IBS to have an effect here. But the dilution by increased drinking (which is necessary given your history of stones)is likely doing this.
