Does Exposure To Radon Cause Persistent Nose Bleeds?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I had Daily Nosebleeds for years in Mansfield, PA. I Relocated to XXXXXXX OR 2 Weeks Ago and Have Not had a Single Nosebleed. My Wife--who is Very Intelligent--thinks it might be Radon in PA though we haven't tested the Home. Know the Air in OR is Not as Dry as in PA. I Do Take Warfarin 5-7 1/2 mg along with Numerous Other Meds (about 15+). Also, I've had a non-stop Migraine-Like Headache--Varying from Aching Nuisance to Debilitating--Since I Slipped on Icy Concrete stairs. My Neurologist Finally Determined it Probably Wont Go Away.

Any Ideas?

Brief Answer:
Radon is unlikely in this case!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this nosebleeds that you have reported. I have reviewed the information and radon seems unlikely because it generally takes a while for symptoms to stop even after we are no longer exposed to it. The rapid cessation of nosebleeds points more to an easily amenable environmental factor such as the dryness in PA which is a well known and well recognised risk factor for nosebleeds. You may want to test the house for radon but this will certainly not be where the answer lies. If you plan returning to PA anytime soon, get a humidifier to avoid recurrent and daily nosebleeds.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
