Brief Answer:
Certain foods are known to cause increased mucus production.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. If your Post Nasal Drip (PND) and throat irritation has started after a severe cold, then the source is an allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. An anti-allergic. mucolytic, regular steam inhalation, medicated gargles, hypertonic saline nasal washes will help.

2. Food and Aero-allergen tests include skin prick tests (such as AllergoSPT oe AllergoDip) and serum IgE evaluation.

3, Food intolerance tests such as Food Detective and Food Print are accurate tests.

4. Food intolerance is a much more poorly understood condition and may be related to the PND (excessive mucus) and throat irritation. However the test may at least reveal past sensitivity to certain food allergens which can then be used to modify your diet.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
