Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: Does garlic have a negative interaction with Warfarin. I take 11 mg of Warfarin daily along with 1 mg of
Anastrozole and prescribed Vitamin D2 1.25 MG(50,000 UNITS IU) for a diagnosis of metastized breast(right) cancer. Is it safe for me to take 600 mg a day of Kyolic Aged Garlic supplement. I am aged 63 and was diagnosed in December of 2014. I had radiation on my left hip for 10 days this past February which has helped my mobility greatly. My email address is: YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
interaction possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Garlic can potentiate the action of warfarin and increase risks of bleeding. Hence it is preferable not to take both together.

If you decide to take it then you need to monitor PT inr regularly and report immediately if there is any bleeding

Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
Regards
