Brief Answer:
Thyroxine will only cause weight loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

The aim of thyroid hormone replacement is to keep TSH in the range of 0.5 to 4 miu/ ml. If the TSH is normal you need to continue the thyroid medications in same dose. You can decrease dose only if TSH is below this level (0.5). If you decrease thyroxine your TSH will go up and you will have symptoms of under active thyroid.

Thyroxine will only cause weight loss. The weight gain may be due to diabetes or drugs used in treatment of diabetes.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.
