Does Hiatal Hernia Cause GERD Symptoms?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: well, I've written a few times before and been to my doc. I have been struggling with gerd for 2 mos. now and can't believe it's still bothersome. I am on ranitidine at bedtime for 1 mo. My doctor suggested prilosec for 2 weeks in a.m. in addition if symtoms hadn't improved; which they really haven't. I'm wondering if this is caused by a hiatal hernia? Maybe until that is resolved this won't improve? I'm still having a glass of wine at night, which I thought I could do. I had a salad today at lunch, and it's now bothering me. Can't figure this thing out! Been on the prescription zantac for 10 days, and the morning prilosec for about 3 days. I'm getting upset........feel like I'm never going to be normal again. I did have this once before but it went away as soon as I dropped a few pounds. I am dropping a few pounds now; but I'm only about 12 lbs. overweight. What do you think?? Very frustrated.
