Question: I have type 1 diabetes and I checked my sugar tonight and it was 469. I never had it that high. I take 25 units on my Treshiba. Should I be worried? I also have high blood pressure and high cholesterol

Brief Answer:
Check ketones in urine.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The blood glucose level you reported is too high.

First, you need to check ketones in urine with a urine deepstick. If they are positive you should go to ER otherwise it can not be an emergency if you try the reason why it is so high.

Secondly, try to find a cause for the high glucose; do you have a fever or any symptom of infection? Did you do the injections regularly? Did you eat as normal? Are you under corticosteroid treatment?

About the blood pressure, it depends how high it is to say if it is an emergency or not.

Hope I have answered your query.
