Does High Temperature With Headaches And Constipation Indicate Swine Flu?

Question : My wife has been running temperature of 99-102 since last 3 days with very severe headache and constipation. Got CBC, ESR and SGPT done. Reports are ok (except mcv-75.7, mch-23.2, mchc-30.7 and eosin-0 are slightly outside the prescribed range). she's not having any colds and cough. Fever is accompanied by a bit of chill some time. Is there any possibility of swine flu?

Fever could be due to many causes but by far the most common cause is Infection . Infection could be due to Virus , Bacteria or Fungus.

Infection could be anywhere in the body from head to toe. So we need to evaluate Where is the infection ? And whether it is Viral or Bacterial or Fungal Infection , as the treatment is entirely different for each .

I advise you to get the following test done and revert back with reports.

Complete Hemogram , Widal , Smear for Malaria, SGPT, SGPT, Ultrasound Abdomen pelvis, Blood Culture and Urine Culture Sensitivity.

Only Fever is unlikely to be Swine Flu , Fever associated with Soar throat and headache could be due to Swine Flu.

Thanks a lot Doctor! I have uploaded the CBC, ESR and SGPT reports and will try have the other tests done shortly. If I understand you correctly, you feel there is no likelihood of Swine Flu. So I can avoid Swine Flu Test, right? Can I give her this anti-biotic Mahacef-CV 200 (Mankind Pharma)- Cefixime (prescribed my GP 2 tablets every day for next 3 days). I've got her 1 year old urine culture report, would that be ok to evaluate.

I don't think it's Swine Flu , so relax.

I went through her reports everything is fine except for mild Iron Deficiency for which she requires Iron Supplements for a month.

Yes you can start the Antibiotic ( Unless she is allergic to it ).

No 1 year old Urine Culture report will not hold good.
