Does Intake Of Glycomet And Crina-NCR Help In Treating Irregular Menstrual Cycle?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Apr 2016
Question: Sir, I am a 24 year old married girl trying to get pregnant. But due to irregular periods I think I am not able to get pregnant. So I consulted a gynaecologist, she has prescribed Crina NCR 10mg and GLYCOMET 500 S.R. and asked me to visit her again on second day of my next period. She also mentioned that she will give me an injection during next visit for getting pregnant. I am little sceptical of any side effects to my body and worried whether I am getting the correct treatment. Is this correct and whether will it have any adverse effects on my child bearing ability in future? Please advice. Looking forward for the reply.

Brief Answer:
Correct method of treatment. Follow the advices.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, welcome to HCM.

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) You should start above medicines (Crina NCR and Glycomet) to regularize your ovulation and monthly period. It is MUCH essential to get pregnant.

2) For proper ovulation, you may need to take Ovulation Induction Drugs (like Clomiphene) or injection (as per your doctor's recommendation) from D2 of your cycle.

Serial follicular study (D12 to D16) is useful to monitor ovulation or you can use ovulation prediction kit (LH kit) to track down ovulation time in the middle of each cycle.

3) You have to do regular unprotected sex close to your ovulation day (14 days prior to actual due date) or (11th to 19th days of each regular 28 to 30 days cycle) to maximize the chance of pregnancy. It should be continued for at least 6-12 months.

4) Both of you must take a healthy balanced diet with more fresh fruits and vegetables. Low carbohydrate diet is preferable. Take vitamin-E and folic acid supplements for 3 months in preconception period and there after.

5) Do light to moderate exercise for physical fitness and to reduce or control body weight. Avoid mental stress completely by regular meditation or yoga. Maintain a healthy life style.

6) Side effects of above said drugs are very minimal and well tolerable. They can be stopped after POSITIVE pregnancy test following consultation of doctor.
