Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

I'm sorry your brother is suffering from depression. Here are my thoughts.

Nexito, generic name Escitalopram, is an excellent antidepressant and can help cure depression. This is actually the first and most important antidepressant I prescribe to my own patients who are diagnosed with depression. It is very effective. 10mg is a standard starting dose, and can be increased up to 20 mg daily if needed. Your brother will get better!

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes people develop gastrointestinal side effects to Nexito, but these generally resolve within a few days. I recommend he continue taking the medication to help with depression. If it is making him too nauseous, he can start taking sertraline instead, a different antidepressant. This medication and vomiting do not indicate any problems with the liver.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. Here are my thoughts.

You may have bipolar disorder based on your description of mood swings, irritability, aggression, and at times depressed mood. Cymbalta can actually make bipolar disorder worse. I would suggest slowly tapering off Cymbalta under the guidance of your prescribing doctor. It seems like your symptoms are actually worsening on Cymbalta, which fits with the idea that you may have bipolar disorder rather than major depressive disorder. Antidepressants can make people more irritable and aggressive if they have bipolar disorder. The dizziness may also be Cymbalta-related, as Cymbalta is known to affect blood pressure. I would recommend stopping the Cymbalta for these reasons.

Increasing the Risperdal to compensate would likely help you. You are currently on a low dose and Risperdal can help with mood stability. I would increase it slowly up to a maximum of 3 mg twice daily. I believe these are the best medication options to help your mood.

You would also benefit from psychotherapy. If there is not a psychotherapist in your area, I do offer text-based therapy on this website at my private direct link below.
