Posted on Thu, 3 Mar 2016
Question: I have ADHD. I received my doctor's advice to reduce them or stop them because of my heart condition. I am ready to sign a testimonial of taking stimulant against my doctor's advice. What should the doctor do?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Some doctors will indeed prescribe stimulant medication to people with heart conditions, but some may not due to the risk of arrthymia, heart attack, stroke, and death. It is up to each individual doctor. Unfortunately, even signing paperwork accepting this risk cannot force a doctor to prescribe it for you. If you discuss this with your doctor and they still choose not to prescribe it, you will have to seek out a different doctor to consider prescribing it for you.
