Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The process of wound healing involves the following event: 1) rapid hemostasis, 2) appropriate inflammation, 3) all the process of the immune system such as mesenchymal cell differentiation, proliferation, and integration to the wound site, 4) new blood vessel formation to heal the wound (suitable angiogenesis), 5) prompt re-epithelialization (re-growth of epithelial tissue over the wound surface) and 6)alignment of collagen to heal the wound.
Coming back to your question, according to your wound pictures it is not infected due to it is dry and there are seen to be in step 2 and beginning of step 3 the normal wound healing process. You can keep continue cleaning the wound and apply antibiotic cream.
For a sign of wound infection, you will feel pain, swelling, warmth, redness, fever, lymph node. If you have those signs please see a doctor.
I hope that I could be of help to you today. Please let me know if you need any clarification. If you have any more questions I am available to discuss them with you further. Wishing you good health.
Best regards,
Dr. Heang Raksmey, General and Family Physician
