Question : HI, I've been on Coveram for some 20 years for my blood pressure. I'm now 56. I'm worried about it causing kidney and liver damage. Is that a reasonable fear? Oh, and btw, I've noticed over the years that my socks leave impressions around my ankles . I never worried about it until I found out that it was fluid build up. Is that because my kidneys aren't working as well as they should? Should I ask for another medication ?

Brief Answer:
limb elevation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Looking at the clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Hypertension, if uncontrolled can cause more damage to kidney rather than present medication. You need not fear about liver and kidney damage due to medication.

2. Swelling of feet is usually due to mild hypertension induced failure or medication specifically amlodipine also can cause it.

Also try leg elevation in lying down position, with two three pillows. It should be above heart level.

It will reduce swelling of feet.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
