Question : Hello, I was moving cement blocks last weekend when I felt a sharp pain radiate from my ring finger, left hand and or course I'm left handed, thru my palm and thumb into my wrist. I've no doubt its a tendon issue. It's been uncomfortable all week. I've tried to keep it somewhat immobilized. Today I went to sit in a chair and put the palms of my hand on the chair arms as i put weight on my hands a sharp pain shot thru the ring finger again and hurt back thru my wrist. I've tried taping my fingers together to immobilize, but it is my dominate hand. Do I need to see a doctor or got directly to an ortho guy?
Brief Answer:
Tendon injury or inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain that you have seems to be due to a tendon injury or inflammation. The best way is to consult an Orthopedician and get MRI scan done to see the extent of injury in the tendon. Proper brace is also needed for immobilization so that it can heal fast. Till then avoid all painful movements and take mild pain killers.
I hope this answers your query.
