Brief Answer:
Not a risk.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I think you are asking about whether there is a risk of HIV and whether you should get tested for HIV. The answer to that is 'no' because what you are describing was not an HIV-risk situation. It did not involve sexual intercourse or used needles. HIV infection is not a risk from casual contact like this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Information

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

It looks like your skin was avulsed - torn off. There is risk of infection (not HIV) from daily exposure, so keep it clean and covered while at work, with a band aid, and you can remove the bandage at night when at home so the skin can get air.

But I would not be concerned beyond that. A person touching the wound with their elbow does not put you at risk for HIV.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thoughts on this

Hello,

Did this start after taking Doxycycline? Then this is an allergic reaction and Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) would help.

When do you get the results back from the skin doctor?

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

At this point, the allergic reaction would not be life threatening. Protect your skin while you are in the sun so that it doesn't get worse.

No, if you are no longer having swollen lips, tongue or throat, and don't have fever, joint pain and feel very sick, it is not life threatening.

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Most allergic reactions are not life threatening but an anaphylactic allergic reaction can be if untreated. But that would happen right away, not later.

Yes, the blood you saw would be from your own if you have a sore on your mouth.

No, eating this would not require testing. HIV is not transmitted this way. The stomach acid would kill it.

Hope I have answered your query.
