Question : will the swelling of the ankles be gone immediately after stopping the use of PREDNIZONE?
Brief Answer:
Swelling will not go
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
I have read your query. I do not think you should stop prednisone suddenly. And ankle swelling can increase after stopping also. I want to know since how long and why you are taking prednisone. Prednisone if taken for long time, can not be stopped suddenly. It should be decrease in tapered manner.
I am waiting for your follow up questions. Thanks.

My father has been taking prednisone for 2 weeks because they suspected it was BOOP when he was hospitalized with pneumonia; my dad should take prednisone for 3 more days (10 mg each day), my question for you was; When he stops taking prednisone, will the swelling of his ankles be gone right away, or will it take some more time/ how long?
Brief Answer:
Swelling in ankle is not due to prednisone
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I do not think that swelling in foot is because of prednisone. So I do not think swelling will go after stopping prednisone. It can be due to hypertension or cardiac problem. You can stop prednisone after 3 days. If swelling remains then get your father's blood pressure check. Also see if his kidney are working properly. Heart and kidney disease causes knee swelling.
I hope this answer will help you. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions. Thanks and take care.
