Brief Answer:
Stress may be a factor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Sorry to learn about your bothersome situation.

I think that after living for 30 years with type 1 Diabetes, you are really an expert in managing it. So if the situation is out of control then something has happened.

Of course, stress can raise the blood sugar, you can confirm it by trying to correlate the period of high blood sugar with the beginning of your stressful situation.

Anyway, you should rule out the diabetes complications like; renal insufficiency, infections (eg. urinary tract infection) etc. because they really lead to an uncontrolled Diabetes.

If you have put on weight during the last years, it can also make the blood sugar difficult to get controlled. Insulin resistance develops and higher doses are needed.

I think there are many factors and you really need a careful clinical examination and a check up of the Diabetes complications.

Hope I have been helpful and wish you good health.
