Question: My Mother has been on Amiodorone for over 3 months for AFIB post AVR. She just finished 21 day event monitor and only 1% AFIB was recorded during that time, EKGs have been normal...She did not have a history of AFIB pre surgery. Does the heart normally go back to sinus rhythm?

Brief Answer: Sinus rhythm Detailed Answer: Hello. Delighted to be able to help. It's difficult to know if her heart will always remain in sinus rhythm, it is not easy, especially in older people. The major complication of atrial fibrillation is the formation of blood clots. For your mother, I think that the use of Amiodarone would not be necessary, but if it is recommended to take a blood thinner (Warfarin, Acenocumarol.Dabigatran). I Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help. If you do not have any clarifications, please don’t forget to evaluate my answer. I wish your mother good health.
