Question: Does this FSH report show definitively where I am in my cycle? Because multiple ranges can include my 6.6 level.

Brief Answer:
No. It cannot definitively suggest this.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The FSH levels cannot pin point the time of the cycle when the sample was taken. It only suggests that you are not postmenopausal. The levels are in normal fertile range. You can get your serum LH levels done to differentiate between follicular and luteal phase.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

I was evaluated for abnormal bleeding (perhaps like a second period in one month) with a transvaginal ultrasound. The OBGYN (first time I saw her and just chose her because she was available--so not a high level of trust) said the result of my lining was normal considering where I am in my cycle. This report, which I have attached, in the comments says thickening of the lining at 11mm. I don't know if that is just the report and it is within normal range (no concern at all) or if means it's actually thickened and that's a concern.

She also said something about 8-11mm being normal. I shared it with my GP to ask his opinion, and he seemed to think 11 was a borderline for an issue. From what I see online, the cycle lining can increase a great deal towards the end of the cycle (I did start second period the next day but had light spotting for prior which brought me to the office).

I'm not sure who to believe. If there's an issue and the OBGYN played it down and said wait to see what happens next month, or it this 11 is definitely indicative of a problem.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
I have seen the attached report. An endometrial thickness of 11mm is not worrisome when your period started the very next day. A thickness of more than 13 mm may need an endometrial biopsy. You can get a repeat scan done after the periods are over to confirm the thickness of endometrium.
Hope my answer is helpful.

My original normal period started 3/27. Then, like I said, it started a second time about 4/13 (with spotting in between the two). Do you still think it’s not worrisome with the 11 lining?

Do you know when she wrote it comments “thickened at 11” if that was just a statement on the lining or does it mean it’s thickened like a problem thickness?

Also, when she wrote in comments “enlarged,” does that indicate a problem or just a statement in a report? The actual report has been uploaded for you review.

Thank you for your response.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
I have seen the attached report. You had a period after 17 days. The growth of endometrium to 11mm is more than normal in 17 days. You can get a repeat evaluation done after the periods finish before going for an endometrial biopsy. The enlarged size of uterus is just a finding and is not worrisome.

It would have been 20 days from the first period on 3/27. Is that worrisome or could it be part of perimenopause? Or does it definitely indicate a troublesome concern with the lining measurement?
Thank you.

Sorry, I wrote the wrong date on the comment you responded to about 17 days between. The date of the "second period" was actually 4/16. Making it twenty days apart with spotting in between.

Brief Answer:
Not a troublesome concern.

Detailed Answer:
A period at 20 days can be due to hormonal changes due to perimenopause. The lining measurement does not definitely indicate a troublesome concern. This can be a temporary issue due to the hormonal disturbance.

Also, you don’t see any problem with anything else in the report? Size or any other suggestive problems? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Rest all is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Rest all is normal in the report. The slightly enlarged size of uterus is normal in parous women- those who have borne children. Nothing to worry.
