Question: Hi,

I took the morning after pill : Levonorgestrel for the first time and since then I've been getting white flakiness around my lips and chin. It started off with that but now there is heaps of redness. It burns and feels scratchy and the skin around this area is very tight. It has only been increasing. Any help on this please?

Brief Answer:
Acne and dry skin

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photographs.
You seem to be having acne along with dryness of face.
It could be related to the pill you have taken.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to use a no soap cleanser like cetaphil cleansing lotion for sensitive skin as a facewash twice daily, apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel on the bumps at night along with frequent and liberal application of a moisturising lotion like cetaphil moisturising lotion on the entire face 2-3 times in a day.
Also take antihistaminic like tablet fexofenadine 180 mg once daily at bedtime for 10 days.
These are prescription drugs and should be under the supervision of the doctor.

Dr Asmeet

Thank you for your response, doctor. It is just that I'm afraid if this is just an allergy or if it could be something like perioral dermitits which needs antibiotics and takes months to heal :/ since contraceptive pills are known to cause that :(

The acne and dryness has been increasing everyday as well and I'm not able to sleep because of the itchiness as of yesterday!
