Question: hello
My mom went thru a KUB test today and following are the results. Can you please explain what this means and if she needs surgery?
-Right kidney shows an exophytic cyst measuring 2.6 cm x 2.5 cm near lower pole. The cyst shows thick walls and XXXXXXX septations.

-Left kidney shows few cortical cysts. The largest measuring about 1.3 cm x 1.3 cm near the lower pole. Urinary bladder is moderately disgended (146 cc)
-No calculi or mass lesion detected
-Post voiding examination showed 27 cc of residual urine
-Clinical correlation is recommended.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Your mother had Urinary tract infection along with uncontrolled diabetes.

The cyst on the right kidney needs to be investigated further.

It needs to be assessed whether it is infected cyst or indeterminate cyst.

She needs to be subjected to contrast CT(computerised tomography) scan and exact nature of cyst ascertained.

Hope i have answered your query.I will be available for follow up.
