Done With Chest X-ray. What Does The Report Says?
Question: What does this mean:
Chest x-ray reveals unexplained curvilinear opacities in the upper mediastinum. The possiblity of an anterior mediastinal lesion or paraspinal lesion can not be excluded.
Please explain the Cervical Spine result as well as it is on the jpeg. Cervical spondylosis with neural forminal ancroachment in the mid to upper cervical spines. Moderate to prominent facet arthopathy. Minimal antero-listhesis of C3-C4 and C4-C5 degenerative basis.

First the X-ray report. Let me tell you that area between the two lungs is called mediastinum. It extends from behind the sternum bone anteriorly to in front of vertebral column in the rib cage. So there is unusual findings of a mass lesion in mediastinum in chest xray. The exact location whether it lies anteriorly or posteriorly and the exact nature of the lesion can't be made out on chest x-ray basis. For which a CT scan is needed and if required a CT guided biopsy can be done where a tiny piece of mass is removed under CT guidance and subjected for histopathology. The treatment will further depend on the report.
Now coming to second report of cervicl spine. Neural foramina is a canal passing between vertebra bones containing spinal cord which in layman term can be wiring from brain to control body parts which it supplies. Any encroachment on this canal by surrounding structure will lead to irritation of some of the nerves or wires causing symptoms like pain, tingling- numbness or wekness in the part it supplies. cervical region is the neck region of the spine and usually supplies upper limbs and upper part of trunk. No.s C3/C4 refers to serial no. of vertebra starting from uppermost one. Antero-listhesis means slippage of upper vertebra anteriorly over the lower one. In your case it is in c3/c4 and c4/c5 level.
Don't worry this cab be relieved by physiotherapy and if needed corrective surgery can be done depending on the severity.....
